The official English ticket site is Ticket Oosumo English, run for the Japan Sumo Association. The association warns it is not responsible for tickets sold on other websites, so start there and check that you are on the official site before paying.

Tournament schedule and sale dates
- November 2026: Fukuoka, Nov. 8 to 22. Sales opened Sep. 19, 2026. When we checked, the association's English page showed tickets as sold out for all dates.
- January 2027: Tokyo, Jan. 10 to 24. Sales start Dec. 5, 2026.
- March 2027: Osaka, Mar. 14 to 28. Sales start Feb. 8, 2027.
- May 2027: Tokyo, May 9 to 23. Sales start Apr. 10, 2027.
- July 2027: Nagoya, Jul. 11 to 25. Sales start May 15, 2027.
- September 2027: Tokyo, Sep. 12 to 26. Sales start Aug. 7, 2027.
Seat types and prices at Ryogoku Kokugikan (Tokyo)
Tokyo tournaments are held at Ryogoku Kokugikan. The Sumo Encyclopedia lists these prices for September 2026, with weekday and weekend rates. It notes that January 2027 prices had not been announced.
- Chair D, second floor: ¥2,500 on all days, with a child fare of ¥500.
- Chair C: ¥3,500 on weekdays and ¥4,000 on weekends.
- Chair B: ¥5,000 weekdays and ¥5,500 weekends.
- Chair A: ¥8,000 weekdays and ¥8,500 weekends.
- Chair S: ¥9,000 weekdays and ¥9,500 weekends.
- Box seats on the first floor cost far more, from ¥34,000 to ¥60,000.
- Ringside seats are ¥20,000 for one person on all days.
Same-day tickets
Turning up at the door works only if the day has not sold out. Do not plan a trip around walking up on the day.
Where to buy, and what to avoid
- Buy through the official English service, Ticket Oosumo English, run for the Japan Sumo Association by a ticket agency. It lists tournament dates, sale dates and seat types in English.

What to ask or check before you go
- Which day and seat category suits your group.
- Whether the day you want has sold out, since availability changes daily.
- How you will collect the ticket, and what ID or booking reference you need.
- Whether children get a lower fare. The Tokyo Chair D seat has a listed child fare of ¥500.
- How long you want to stay. Ask the official ticket service or venue about match times before choosing between a full day and a short visit.
